Terms of sale and licence

Last updated 5 August 2026

These terms cover the purchase and use of Dock Switcher Pro ("the software"), published by Alvin Liu ("we", "us"). By downloading, trialling or purchasing the software you accept them. Please read the two highlighted sections — they describe limits that cannot be undone after purchase.

1. Free trial

The software includes a 7-day free trial of the complete application. No payment details are required, no features are withheld, and we do not need an account from you. The trial period is tracked on your Mac. When it ends, window previewing locks; the rest of the application continues to run so you can enter a serial number at any time.

The trial exists so that you can confirm the software works on your hardware, with your macOS version and with the applications you use, before you pay. We ask you to use it.

2. What you are buying

A licence costs US $9.90, paid once. It is not a subscription and it does not expire. It grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the software on one Mac, together with future updates for that Mac. The software is licensed to you, not sold; we retain all intellectual property in it.

You may not redistribute, resell, sublicense, rent or share the software or your serial number, nor attempt to circumvent its licensing.

3. Machine binding — please read

Before paying you supply the machine code shown in the application. The moment your payment succeeds we sign a serial number for that specific Mac, show it to you and email it to you. The serial is verified entirely on your device using cryptography built into the application, which is why the software never has to contact us to confirm that you are licensed.

The direct consequence is that:

  • A serial number works only on the Mac whose machine code was submitted.
  • Once a serial has been generated it cannot be deactivated, revoked, transferred or reassigned — not by you and not by us. There is no mechanism for it, by design.
  • If you submit the machine code of the wrong Mac, the licence belongs to that Mac.
  • If you later replace your Mac, or change hardware such that the machine code changes, the existing serial will no longer validate and a new licence would be required.

Please confirm the machine code belongs to the Mac you intend to license before you pay. A serial signed for the wrong machine code cannot be reissued for another.

4. Refund policy — please read

All sales are final. We do not offer refunds, returns, cancellations or exchanges.

This is a direct consequence of section 3: once your serial has been generated it is permanently valid on your machine and there is no technical means for us to withdraw it. Refunding a licence that continues to work would not be a refund. For the same reason we cannot offer partial refunds or credit.

The 7-day trial is the full application and is provided precisely so that this policy costs you nothing to avoid. We may at our sole discretion consider a request, but we are under no obligation to grant one and make no promise to do so.

Nothing in this section limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your jurisdiction that cannot be waived by agreement — including, where applicable, remedies if the software is faulty or not as described. Where such law gives you a statutory right of withdrawal for digital content, you agree that supply begins immediately upon issuance of your serial number and, to the extent permitted, you waive that right at that point.

5. Payment

Payment is processed by Stripe. We never receive or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may be added at checkout. Your serial number is issued once Stripe confirms the payment has succeeded.

6. Lost codes and serials

Keep the email containing your serial number. If you lose it, contact alvin.app.contact@gmail.com from the email address used at checkout, quoting your machine code. We store only a hash of your address, so both must match the purchase before we can act — with both, we can reproduce the identical serial and send it again.

7. Requirements and support

The software requires an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later, and Accessibility permission in order to function. Screen Recording permission is optional and affects thumbnail imagery only. We provide support by email on a best-effort basis. We may discontinue sales or the website at any time; because licences are verified offline, this does not affect software already licensed to your Mac.

8. No warranty and limitation of liability

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to the software or these terms is limited to the amount you paid for your licence, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages or for lost data or profits. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, in which case they apply to you only to the extent permitted.

9. Termination

This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms, in which case you must stop using the software and delete it. Sections 4, 8 and 9 survive termination.

10. Changes and contact

We may update these terms for future purchases; the version published at the time of your purchase governs that purchase. Questions go to alvin.app.contact@gmail.com.
